Foster with Cottonwick

A home for now changes everything later.

Fostering gives an animal a routine and gives adopters the honest picture they need to say yes with confidence.

What it involves

Two weeks to three months, with a real support system.

Bottle kittens usually stay about six weeks, until they weigh two pounds. Most other dogs and cats stay until they find a match.

  • Give them a bed, walks, and a steady routine.
  • Tell us what you notice so we can write an honest profile.
  • Bring them to vet visits and, if you can, one Saturday adoption event a month.

Cottonwick pays

You should not have to budget for a foster animal.

Health

All vet care at our partner clinic, flea and heartworm prevention, and any medication.

Everyday needs

Food, litter, crate, leash, collar, and ID tag.

Help when you need it

A help line from 7:00am to 10:00pm, plus an emergency vet number at night.

  • You pay for nothing unless you want to buy a toy.
  • You can say no to any animal we offer you.
  • When you travel, we cover for you.

Who can foster

A few basics, then we find your fit.

  • You are 21 or older.
  • Your landlord is okay with it if you rent.
  • Your own pets are vaccinated.

Right now, we most need foster homes for big dogs and mother cats with nursing kittens from April through October.
